On December 30, 2012 Glen and I celebrate 35 years of marriage! The next day we complete 34 years of serving the Lord full time. What joy to look back on the amazing opportunities we have had to serve the Lord together over the past 35 years! When I think about who we are now, compared to who we were then, I rejoice that God used us and continues to grow us. When we got engaged the motto we chose for our life together was, “to know Him and make Him known.” God has honored that desire and we continue to do both of those things to the best of our ability. We are more in love with each other and more in love with Jesus the longer we live and serve together. I thought you’d enjoy seeing the “before and after” pictures!
Carl and Jamie just celebrated their second wedding anniversary. They both work at the same school, Carl teaching 8th grade history and Jamie managing the school administrative staff. The school is a charter school focused on preparing underprivileged students for college. Many of the students’ parents don’t speak English so Carl is using his Spanish a lot! I also have had the joy of translating for some of the teachers during Parent/Teacher conferences. The younger Volkhardts are attending a small church within walking distance of their duplex and are becoming more involved every month. They are serving on the church prayer/ministry team and helping in the nursery.
Culver has been working for a tower building company for the past four months. Currently they have a large contract with AT&T to install LTE cell towers all over Colorado. He often works 60 hours a week in the cold, staying in hotels and missing his family and friends. He’s battled acute bronchitis two times in the past six weeks and is wondering how long he can last!
