My Secret Double

I have served on the board of Bridge Builders International for seven years.  Currently I'm the board chair.  The ministry of building bridges to and from Latvia, is led by Chuck Kelley, a good friend of many years.  Recently BBI has been building bridges through the medium of art.  BBI has been gathering artists and ministering to artists for a few years.  Exhibitions are a later addition, beginning in the Baltic countries of Latvia and Estonia, and now extending to the U.S. with an exhibition titled "My Secret Double."

The name refers to the secret double life we can lead when we suffer from depression.  The exhibit drew serious attention in Europe, and most recently it was hosted by Oregon State University in Corvallis.  It featured artists from Latvia, Estonia and the Pacific Northwest.  

In addition to paintings, works of art in the mediums of music, sculpture, poetry, film, tapestry and photography were exhibited.  And the event was more than an art show.  There were lectures and panel discussions open to the public, and BBI celebrated its 25th anniversary as a part of the festivities.  A very unusual, and profitable collaboration between a major university and a Christian mission.  

Next stop on the American tour is an exhibition at Wheaton College next spring.
