Third Post from Latvia

Sunday Evening

The Jesus Church
This is a weary soul reporting in.  We had a lovely, snowy, blustery day in Riga.  Our hostess for the day is in charge of protocol for the Parliament.  She is a darling young blond.  We bundled up and walked 20 minutes to church.  Beth’s scarf blew off and
we didn’t even know it. Beth’s leg was really bothering her, so it was slow going to the church in the icy, blustery snow.  The church building is the oldest all wooden structure in the Baltics--a large Evangelical Lutheran church.  Liga, our hostess sat behind us in church and whispered the translation of the message which was excellent.  We were invited to say a few words at the end and I spoke a bit, introduced Beth and Tracy while Liga translated.  We had lunch across the cobblestone street from the church and tromped back through the snow.  We got here right at 2 when Tracy had her first meeting.  I barely made it to the bed—collapsed into it for a nap.  Beth didn’t let my 3:00 pm appointment waken me till nearly 4.  Ladies started showing up for the meeting at 5 and we had tea, coffee and finger food.  It was a sweet time of sharing testimonies and prayer and planning for the conference.  It was good and Lienite was happy.  I am going to close and head to bed.  Need every ounce of strength and clear thinking for the all-day of Kitchen Table Counseling seminar tomorrow.  It looks like we’ll have four sessions.
