Even though we are officially “empty nesters,” we enjoy seeing Carl and Jamie as well as Culver and his girlfriend nearly every week. After completing his Master’s in Educational Leadership in May, Carl got a new teaching job at the same school where Jamie is Director of Administration. He is teaching 8th grade History. It is a charter school that creatively prepares under-privileged students for college. They attend a plant from our church near their home.
Culver’s summer jobs are dependent on tourism, which has dwindled due to the fires in the area. He has just landed a new job as a server in a nice restaurant, which is especially critical now that he is paying rent and utilities! He continues to pursue a degree in Outdoor Leadership at the local community college.
