The interview took place over a day and a half. It could have been a grueling experience for some, but we experienced it as a walk down memory lane. We met in the home of Paraclete president, Don Parrott. His wife Ele was a part of the whole process. The atmosphere was relaxed and affirming as we talked through our relationship, careers and ministry. Don already knew us pretty well by having spent serious time on the phone with our references. We got to ask all of our questions too.
We got to visit the Paraclete offices and meet some of the staff, and we had dinner with Paraclete Associates, Doug and Candy Goins, who live in the Phoenix area. At the end of our time, we agreed with Don to pray over the weekend and call on Monday to let each other know what we were hearing from the Lord. We did that, and were pleased to hear that Paraclete decided to invited us to join them. We accepted, so it official! Now begins the process of tying up loose ends with HCJB and formalizing the transfer. More information to follow. For now, try checking out the Paraclete web site. We also got to see our good friends Daniel and Evangeline Enns while in Phoenix. They are friends that served with us in Ecuador.Shelly and Evangeline
We had a few hours with Reinhard and Priscilla Buss in nearby Peyton, Arizona. I spent a semester in Germany under their care back in 1974. It was great to see them again.
Phoenix weather was a welcome change to Colorado this time of year. The desert was beautiful. You could almost see it come to life with the light rains that were falling. For some photographs, see my Phoenix Desert album on Picasa.
