Stop-off in Cancun

It's not a straightforward thing to travel to Cuba. U.S. airlines can't fly there. Only a few charter flights leave from U.S. soil. Even foreign airlines don't take American credit cards for flights to Cuba. Immigration issues can be problematic on both sides. For a combination of these reasons we decided to fly to Cuba from Cancun--just a 45 minute hop. That gave us a chance to celebrate and relax. Our “honeymoon” in Cancun was multi-leveled – the beach was beautiful but the area itself was too American for our taste – we were expecting Latin America! We were able to walk and talk– when Glen's throat allowed-and explore the less commercial parts of the town. An interesting way to celebrate our 30 years.
