HCJB World Radio Become HCJB Global

What do you think? We really like the new name and logo. Having "radio" in the name of the organization has been confusing for a long time. While it describes the past well, it didn't describe the present or the future nearly so well. We've been doing health care for over 50 years! And radio is only on form of the media work we do now and envision for the future.

I got to work on the name and logo change as a part of the HCJB Global Executive Management Team (EMT). The Communications Department did all the work and the EMT got to pick, choose and give directions (basically drive the artists nuts). The mission board of trustees approved the name and logo in September and it becomes official January 1, 2007.

With the new name, we've chosen two new identities to describe the two arenas of our work--Global Hands for health care and Global Voice for media. Some see these two as an odd pair. I've always seen our medical as a perfect fit for radio. We dare not speak without being willing to get our hands dirty in the reality of life's troubles. Particularly in Africa where we want to see significant expansion, we must be healers if our message is to have validity.

What say ye?
